Thanks very much for your swift reply.

If you run

sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb

you then might then also have to run

sudo apt-get -f install

to fix errors such as : "Errors were encountered while processing: google-chrome-stable" due to some missing dependencies.
