I'm looking for a cheap Mono Laser printer - non duplex - just to spare my colour inkjet when doing general printing.
In this email, I'm just looking for options that people have found to work with openSUSE 10.x (or similar) virtually straight out of the box. I've interrogated the
www.linuxprinting.org site until my head spins with printer serial numbers and splix, gdl, foomatic, pcl3,hpdj etc. etc drivers. Even the printers in the "works perfectly" column appear to have installation issues.
If there are options that work - can I have the name of the recommended driver that was found to work.
Printers I have looked at are:
Brother HL-2030 (mostly works)
Samsung ML-2010R (works perfectly)
HP Laserjet P1005 (mostly works)
Any other favoured options - don't want to spend more than £100.
Thanks
Colin
