Ditto.

NTL/VM own their local loop of coax +- fibre.
Whereas ADSL offerings are trying to squeeze performance out of dodgy bits of
untwisted pair copper.

NTL/VM would have no difficulty in delivering the speeds for which you are
paying, you might think. But deliver 3Mb/s on a "10Mb/s" line.

O2 are now offering £17/month for phone and broadband, so Saturday's Grauniad
says. If you live anywhere near Oxpens or Cowley exchanges then you get
superior speeds (13Mb/s in one case) and a helpful/knowlegable customer
service. Fast, cheap, reliable.
