Note that 2008 Ig Nobel UK Tour are nearly upon us: 6th March, Martin Wood 
Lecture Theatre, 1930.

National Science and Engineering Week website says:
"National Science and Engineering Week (formerly National Science Week) is an 
opportunity for people of all ages, areas and organisations to take part in 
science, engineering and technology activities."

IgNobels are awarded for science that makes you laugh and then think. E.g. For 
example "Scrotal Asymmetry in Man and in Ancient  Sculpture"[1] and "An 
Analysis of the Forces Required to Drag Sheep over Various Surfaces."[2]. 

Need to book tickets online or queue on the door (finite number of seats).
