UKUUG Linux 2000 conference, 7-9 July, London

The programme for this conference is now available at: http://www.ukuug.org/events/linux2000/timetable.shtml Nine of the speakers are flying to London especially for the conference, and once again several OxLUG people are playing active roles in organising the event - and two will be speaking. The line-up includes: Miguel de Icaza (GNOME) Hans Reiser (Reiserfs) Rik van Riel (Memory Management; 2.5 kernel development) Rasterman (Performance programming for X) Stephen Tweedie (Clustering; Ext3) Wichert Akkerman (Package Management) The event is spread over 3 days this year, and daily rates are available. A 50% discount available for students. It is necessary to be a member of the UKUUG to attend. (There is an institutional membership covering students and staff of Oxford University.) There will be exhibitors on the Friday and Saturday. (Including O'Reilly offering a discount on their books.) [Mid-Month Meeting] Drinkies

Hi, There will be an informal Mid-Month OxLUG social meeting at the Lamb and Flag on Wednesday 21st June (tonight) at 20:00. The meeting is an additional event which has been organised over the last couple of days and does not replace or otherwise affect the regular meetings. We will be at the Lamb and Flag until at least 21:00 or so, at which point the meeting may move elsewhere. If you turn up after 21:00 and we appear to have moved to get food or go to a different pub, please give me a ring on the Mobile number below and I'll let you know where we are. Roger Whittaker will be talking about Linux in Education. Apologies for not having an abstract for the talk, but I don't know anything more specific. Also, to anyone who wants them, there are a fairly large number of Alphanet Linux 2000, Mandrake 7.0 (GPL edition) and Debian GNU/Linux potato test-cycle 1 CDs.
