Linux has long since made inroads in the server, hacker, and desktop
spaces but it has also enjoyed a silent success in embedded devices or
all shapes and sizes. Jon Masters will introduce the world of "Embedded
Linux" and attempt to demystify some of the current developments.
Following a general introduction, a more advanced look will adress the
increasing use on Linux in SoC (System-on-Chip) and programmable logic
devices, with the aid of a Xilinx programmable FPGA development kit
running a Linux platform.
Jon Masters is an Embedded Linux engineer who works for a number of
companies on Linux and other embedded projects. He is also author of the
monthly "Small World" and "Kernel Hacking" columns in Linux User &
Developer magazine.
