There are three excellent events coming up over the next week - please support them if you can!
Firstly, on Tuesday, the UK Unix User Group is running an E-Business Conference at the Brewery in London. The conference addresses some of the technologies that can help to make electronic commerce successful. The programme has a strong technical content and includes speakers from Nortel Networks and Carlyle Media Group and topics such as IP telephony, future firewalls, Macromedia Flash, XML/Web enabled publishing and the implications of the E-Commerce Bill.
See http://www.ukuug.org/events/e-business-1999/schedule.shtml There are limited numbers of discounted and possibly free places. Contact office@ukuug.org ASAP if you're interested in attending.
On Tuesday evening, Steve Clarke from Planet Online will talk to Oxford University Computer Society about Internet Service Provider trends and technologies, including the story of free internet access, the role played by Linux and the potential of ADSL. Members of the OxLUG mailing list are invited to this event.
