Next Sunday, Keith Matthews will lead our session. The topic will be 'Linux on Laptops' - so do bring along your laptop or simply come along and have a look at what other people have managed to do with theirs! ** Please note the venue: Trinity College, Oxford ** The entrance is on Broad Street, opposite the end of Turl Street, to the left of Blackwell's Travel Shop, and through a small door immediately to the right of the large gates. Three events this week!

There are three excellent events coming up over the next week - please support them if you can! Firstly, on Tuesday, the UK Unix User Group is running an E-Business Conference at the Brewery in London. The conference addresses some of the technologies that can help to make electronic commerce successful. The programme has a strong technical content and includes speakers from Nortel Networks and Carlyle Media Group and topics such as IP telephony, future firewalls, Macromedia Flash, XML/Web enabled publishing and the implications of the E-Commerce Bill. On Tuesday evening, Steve Clarke from Planet Online will talk to Oxford University Computer Society about Internet Service Provider trends and technologies, including the story of free internet access, the role played by Linux and the potential of ADSL. Two non-OxLUG events - FIPR London / BCS Reading

On Thursday morning in London - Scrambling for Safety - further discussion of the Government's plans for E-Commerce. Several of us on this list attended the last SFS conference and found it very stimulating. Jo Dillon will talk about what'll be in KDE 2.0 and demonstrate an up-to-date pre-alpha CVS snapshot. *** Venue to be announced on Friday *** It will be either Comlab (as usual) or Trinity College. This Saturday, there's a full-day Greater London Linux User Group meeting in London's Docklands. (Anyone going from Reading may wish to meet 9.25am at Reading station on the platform to catch the 9.30am train.)
